Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora the next gen game being developed by Ubisoft will be delayed past 2022. With very little information coming out about the game in the past year, sadly this isn’t a huge surprise to me. However it is a big let down, only because I am so looking forward to exploring Pandora virtually, and hoped I’d be doing so even before Avatar: The Way of Water came out. The game was first announced in 2017 and Ubisoft has said it won’t arrive before April of 2023 at the earliest. April is the start of Ubisofts next fiscal year, and it’s expected between April 2023-March 2024. I do want them to take their time and make this game be as great as I know it can. I’d rather have a delay than see it come out on time but not be up to par. I know Covid has impacted the ability of talent to come to the office and work directly on the game, as we’ve seen with so many facest of our lives, Covid has really made everything more difficult.
“We want to make [Avatar] a video game industry brand. It is important for us that we come with something that is perfect.”
-Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot
Avatar 2 Merchandise Updates, McFarlane Toys, Lego, and more
In an article posted by License Global, we got a clearer picture of how the Avatar 2 merchandise landscape will look. Some of this has been known for some time, but since it’s covered in the article I’ll touch on it again. More books will be coming from DK Publishing this year, including one already released in Europe, The World of Avatar: A Visual Exploration. Plus more books from DK will be released as the sequels progress. Dark Horse will continue to make comics for the franchise, telling stories from the past to the present, the newest release is due out on May the 4th, Avatar: Adapt or Die. A new console and PC game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is coming from Ubisoft. It is expected to release in 2022, although no finale date has been announced. You will be able to play in an open world as a Na’vi, exploring the previously unseen western frontier. A new mobile game is coming from Archosaur Games and Level Infinite, Avatar: Reckoning. The new action figure line will be produced by McFarlane Toys, with buildable sets coming from Lego that will be from major movie moments from Avatar and Avatar 2. Some of the other licensees will be, Adidas, Disguise, Duvetica, Citizen, Trends International, Hallmark, Ferrero and Zing.
“Our focus will be centered around products that celebrate the characters and, most notably, the world of Pandora. With the amazing breadth and depth of creatures and flora, we’ve tapped into the immersive world of Avatar and its many environments. Given the story and themes, we’re excited to introduce products that capture environmental elements such as flight and water in innovative ways. To further support, we’re also planning global retail activations across multiple touchpoints so we can engage consumers where they are shopping today – both physically and digitally.”
“From a merchandise perspective, we’ve seen extensive collaboration between Lightstorm Entertainment and various licensees, with cross-category products including highly detailed figures and collectibles, apparel, accessories, footwear, home décor and more. There will also be an extensive new collection of products for parks and direct-to-consumer retail across apparel, toys and home products that will lean into the unique color palette, environmental elements and creatures from Avatar 2.”
It seems we soon will be immersed in lot’s of new Avatar products and media. It is really exciting to get the latest sneak peek into what is just on the horizon. It looks to be a very exciting end to 2022 for all of us Avatar fans. You can see the link to the entire License Global article below-

Hey everyone, just on update on Ubisoft Forward. Sadly we did not get an update on the new Avatar game, while disappointing Ubisoft did say that they would be having another event to showcase more games later this summer. This event seemed to focus more on games that would be coming out on the current generation of consoles first, so I am going to assume the next even will focus more on the games coming to the next generation of console. Let’s keep our fingers crossed we finally get some more game details later this summer.
Since the Electronic Entertainment Expo, better known as E3, was cancelled this year, some companies are looking for ways to still show off their products. Tomorrow Ubisoft is Doing just that by live streaming an event called Ubisoft Forward. Starting with a preshow at 2pm EST, and launching officially at 3pm EST. They will be sharing gameplay of several new games and updates on others. Why does this matter to us as Avatar fans, well we might finally get to see some gameplay from Massive, an Ubisoft studio, who is working on the upcoming Avatar game. While not confirmed there are lots of rumors swirling that a tease of the upcoming game will happen tomorrow.
Official Avatar Game Announcement Trailer from March 1, 2017.
As most of you know, Ubisoft is making a new Avatar game. A lot is still unknown at this time and I’ve been seeing lots of rumors that are being spoken as if they have become fact. Ubisoft also created the first Avatar game that was released in 2009, and many people believe the same group of people are making the new game. That is false, the new game is being developed by Massive Entertainment which is a subsidiary of Ubisoft, but is not the same group who made the first game. This will be Massive Entertainments twelveth game since the studio inception in 1997. Massive is based out of Sweden. The original Avatar: The Game was developed by Ubisoft Montreal out of Canada. With that said I thought I’d make an article on what we know so far. As of now the game doesn’t have a title, they are calling it “The Avatar Project” and have a website up for the game. The website has limited information but I will link to it below. The game will be produced by Massive using the Snowdrop engine, which has been used with Ubisoft’s game The Division and The Divison II which releases next year. I purchased the Division just to see how the game was. It is a 3rd person shooter and I don’t expect much if anything will be carried over from it to Avatar, but the game was smooth and played well, and has very nice current generation graphics.
It has been announced the game will not release significantly before Avatar is released in December of 2020 and as of now, no official release date has been stated for the release. They released the first Avatar game on December 1 2009, which could give us an idea of the time frame the sequel will be released in regards to Avatar 2 coming out, however that is pure speculation. That is all we know officially so far, hopefully we will be learning more and more about the game very soon. We don’t yet know what we will even be doing in the game, but watching the trailer above would seem to imply we will get to go to Pandora and live an alternative life, and everyone gets to chose how they want to experience Pandora. Sounds very exciting to me!
First I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has checked out the site. We have received some good feedback, don’t be afraid to keep it coming, good or bad. We want the site to serve you guys, the fans, to do so we need to know what you like and don’t like.
After our first week though we are super excited. Going into this my goal was modest, I know the Avatar fandom isn’t real large at the moment, the people who are active online seem to be fairly low. I hoped the site would reach 50-100 people at some point, eventually being closer to 75-100. I thought if that many people would check it out each day or every few days that would make a solid impact on the current Avatar online population. What surprised me was that we have reached exactly 100 unique visitors from 14 countries in our first week. So thank you guys!
The site has only been promoted on its Facebook, and Instagram page, and clearly by word of mouth. The main goal of the site is to give fans a resource for any news for the sequels, or Avatar in general. Plus we want you to be able to have something to read each day. Some days I am sure it will be a topic that you already knew, or an article you’d already seen, but we aim to keep things coming and give Avatar fans a little boost. We are still 2 years away from things heating up, but when they do it’s going to be wild.
We have a new video game coming from Massive, a book series coming from Steven Gould, comics from Dark Horse, and of course the sequels. Things are going to be real fun again before we know it! Even now we are fortunate to have the Cirque du Soleil show and have Pandora we can visit at Animal Kingdom. Both of which are highly recommended. There is also something called Avatar The Exhibition which has been in Asia, it looks amazing, I can’t wait for it to make its way closer to us.
In the coming days we will have more information on all the current Avatar offerings and what’s to come, so keep an eye out.
