The newest Total Film magazine released today, and as promised included more information on Avatar 2. I will say the best details were included in yesterdays teaser, however we still learned some new information and they shared an amazing piece of art, and a photo that wasn’t discussed in the article, my best guess is that it is a Metkayina necklace.
The article starts off by covering the Jon Landau quotes and narrative we shared in yesterdays post. Then Jon goes on to say that the sequels are going to take advantage of HDR, a higher resolution, and brighter light levels. All with the objective to help the 3D picture look better. He emphasized that they want Avatar 2 to be an amazing cinematic experience. Landau went on to say that they aren’t out to beat Avatars box office record, they want to make a great movie people want to see in theaters.
Tomorrow, 12/8/21, the magazine Total Film is set to release their January issue that includes a preview article on Avatar 2. Today a portion of that article was released as a teaser. Here are the quotes from that article, taken directly from Avatar 2 producer Jon Landau-
“The scripts are the blueprint from which we work. So a large portion of our time was writing… with the challenge that each of those four scripts had to individually resolve itself in a story that concludes with a big emotional resolution – but when you look at them as a whole, the connected story arc of all four movies creates an even larger epic saga.”
“I think the story of Avatar 2, and the strength of the story, is what Jim always does in any of his movies: he writes in universal themes that are bigger than any one genre. And if you think about this, there’s really no more universal theme than family. At the center of each of our sequels is the Sully family. What are the dynamics that parents go through to protect their family?”
“The Sullys’ idyllic life is disrupted when the RDA mining operation returns to Pandora, forcing Jake to take the family to what is perceived as a safe harbor at the reef. And when you get to the reef, there’s a clan we call the Metkayina. The Sullys are no longer in the environment that they know, the rainforest. They become the fish out of water. They become the fish out of water both culturally and just environmentally.”
The cover for the January 22 issue of Entertainment Weekly has been shown. Blink and you could have missed this…
Avatar 2 season is starting to ramp up, I’ll admit I have never been a subscriber of Entertainment Weekly, but I saw the issues normally debut a couple weeks before the listed cover month. So keep your eye out for this in another two weeks right at mid December. I cannot wait to see what they show us. *Update* I have confirmed this issue will release on newsstands December 17th.
You can currently subscribe to the magazine through Amazon for only $5 for your first year. Might be a great idea for the Avatar fan as EW will probably have more Avatar features in the coming months leading up to the Avatar 2 release.
With the last few months of the year slowly approaching, the release of Avatar 2 grow closer and closer. With the release just under a year and half away thoughts might turn to when will we see a trailer. Today I wanted to give my thoughts on when we might get our first glimpse at the film and return to Pandora.

Last summer we were supporting a Lego set creation by Bulldoozer. If he was able to get his Avatar inspired Lego set to 10,000 likes then he would be able to get the set reviewed, after being reviewed he would have the possibility the set would be produced for sale. Through the support of all of the amazing Avatar and Lego fans out there he was able to reach his 10,000 likes mark. He recently found out however the set wasn’t accepted to be produced. What a bummer, I was really pulling for him, but perhaps this means Disney has good reasons to allow it not to be made. Perhaps they are working on their own Lego sets, or have an agreement with a competitor such as Mega Construx. I thought the public announcement he made was great however and wanted to share-
To vote you do need to create an account. Just click “SUPPORT” in the upper right hand corner of the page and you’ll be prompted for you age, then you can create a new account or login from your Facebook, Google, or Apple account. If you want to see this come to life please take the time to vote to make Bulldoozer’s set a reality. As of this posting I was number 5532 to vote for the set, so he is over half way to the needed amount.
Please also check out and support this project from Ogel_. Avatar: Toruk-The Last Shadow. Here is what Oleg has to say about his project-
The great leonopteryx, known as Toruk in Na’vi’s language. His name can be translated as Last Shadow because the last thing you see when it attacks is his shadow above you. Toruk is the apex predator of Pandora, it is feared but respected by the different Na’vi tribes.
I’m a huge fan of Avatar and it’s been a while that I wanted to build iconic creatures and vehicles from this movie. So, I started to create this project a few months ago and I have modified it a lot of times to be more realistic and more robust. I wanted to create an articulated model so it is more playable and it can take a lot of positions like a flying one, a walked one where the “feathers” fold or an intimidating one and lots more!
Now if you want your own Toruk to lead and win every battle you do against the invaders, support my project.
I hope that you like it.
I would love to see both of these projects reach 10,000 votes. Toruk would look amazing with the Pandora set. As more updates come in about either set I will share them with you all.
