Happy Halloween 2020! Continuing on from our Halloween 2019 tradition, I wanted to share some of my favorite make up and cosplay artists from Instagram. Each person has given permission to use their photo and I included a link to each of their profiles. Please feel free to support all of them with a follow or some likes, and these are in no particular order. I love the varying hair styles, colors, and techniques that each person used, they all make for vastly different variations, but they are all beautiful and unique.
A big irayo (thank you) to everyone for sharing their talented pictures with me. Something that is awesome about the Na’vi in Avatar is they are all blue, they don’t have to deal with some of the things we do. With that said the ladies who’ve created these amazing makeup designs aren’t blue, they have all different colors of skin and come from all around the globe, and some have personally dealt with racism. There was a post on @diane.mi Instagram that really hit me. The caption was this, “Growing up in predominately white schools, I was always mocked for everything linked to my korean heritage.” That’s heart breaking to read as a white person. I don’t know Diane personally but from the tiny bit I’ve spoken to her I can tell she’s a lovely person. Take a moment and think about what you say, how it potentially impacts others for years after you said it. Let’s be positive, lift each other up, love one another. That also can help impact peoples lives in a positive way for years to come. You never know what people are dealing with behind the scenes. I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween 2020 and you get to enjoy it with friends and family.
Halloween is now only 3 days away. If you’re looking for a way to finish off your Avatar costume this Saturday there are a few ways you can do so. One of the most popular ways is by doing a Halloween staple, face paint.
Here is a really good Na’vi makeup tutorial by @blancablogs, special thanks to Blanca for letting us share this with you.
If makeup isn’t your thing, or you want to try and compliment face makeup without going full body paint, visit shopDisney. There you can pick up a great looking Na’vi hoodie or shirt. At different times they also have in stock Na’vi tails, knives, spears, and a few other great accessories.
Another great compliment to the face paint, and a nice way to avoid the time consuming full body paint, is a body suit from Ruby’s, which can be found on Amazon HERE. Or if you’re looking for a Jake Sully RDA costume, it can be found on Amazon as well HERE.

Preorders for Avatar: The Last Shadow are now up for issue 1. Plus we get a look at the actual cover of the first issue. So far I don’t see any alternate covers, so it will be interesting to see if any are added in the near future. The issue releases on 1/6/21 and is 32 pages in length.
Jake Sully maintains his position as leader of the Omatikaya Na’vi tribe, but with their homeland in ruins, he begins to doubt his place among them. As the Na’vi and human feud persists, tensions between the tribes begin to escalate as longstanding family rivalries ignite–spawning treachery and betrayal! * An untold story set immediately after the events of Avatar!
I find it very interesting we have a human on the cover of the first issue. This is a continuation of the Avatar story from the first movie, I’m curious if all the RDA aligned humans weren’t expelled or if more have already shown up. The story the Hollywood Reporter shared said this story takes place in the immediate aftermath of the movie, so I look forward to finding out more about what’s happening on the cover.
My personal online comic shop is TFAW.com as they are part of the same company as the Avatar series publisher Dark Horse. Click Here to preorder.
New photo from the sequels featuring General Ardmore and Dorman
Yesterday Jon Landau dropped another fantastic behind the scenes look at a scene in the sequels. This time we get a chance to see Edie Falco and Kevin Dorman prepping for a scene on the factory ship which is called the Sea Dragon. If you’ve ever watched Whale Wars the term factory ship will have meaning for you. The real life whalers on that show use a ship called the Nisshin Maru to harvest whales after they are killed by other vessels. It is a floating whale processing factory. That makes me think this ship will be used in a similar capacity in the Pandoran waters. Perhaps we will see them harvesting the massive nalutsa, which are whale like creatures that can be seen on Flight of Passage. This picture is significant because we get to see Edie for the first time as General Ardmore. Kevin is playing an unknown character, but if you zoom in you can see they are using his actual last name of Dorman. You might remember Kevin from the first movie, he played a lot of roles but the one you might remember the best is of the remote bulldozer operator.
Some new things I noticed are the Hell’s Gate patch has been updated, which I find interesting that the pentagon design is still being used as we saw the Na’vi and Avatars had taken over Hell’s Gate. I refer to it as the Hell’s gate patch simply because it is in the shape of a pentagon, which we know Hell’s Gate was fenced off in that shape. Also General Falco has a new breast patch that says Sec-Ops and a new patch on her shoulder with what appears to be an eagle grasping a snake, on top of a pentagon with the letters BSO at the top. We also see a move away from the AVPAT camo pattern in the first movie to an even bettering looking style. Directly behind the General is stuntman Steve Brown wearing the same camo, and behind Dorman we see three more actors wearing what looks to be a more Navy styled solid blue uniform. Dorman also has some sort of metal bracelet, as does the crew member directly behind him, I’m interested to see what significance these have. My first thought was possibly these are an update on the dog tags they all wore in the fist movie. You can also see the bottom of a tattoo sticking out from under the sleeve on Dorman’s left arm, and his sidearm would appear to be a style we also haven’t seen before.
Exciting news released today about the next Dark Horse Avatar comic. On January 6th, 2021 Avatar: The Next Shadow makes it debut. It is a four part series that continues directly from the movie story. It will cover the struggles of Jake Sully as he tries to keep the Omatikaya Clan together after events of the movie.
This is extremely exciting news. After the recent announcement of Avatar 2 being pushed back another year we didn’t know when we’d get our next release. Thankfully they are still going to be releasing new media for us fans to enjoy. It’s exciting that we are getting a continuation of the story from what we last saw in Avatar. The previous two Dark Horse comic releases expanded on what we saw in Avatar, and even showed some of what happened before the movies timeline. However we haven’t had anything from the ending of the movie forward. So get ready to see what Jake and the Omatikaya Clan have been up to since the death of Eytukan and the destruction of Hometree.
