As we covered in our last article there is a new Avatar comic series by Dark Horse that is releasing this coming January 16th 2019. A few days ago the website Bleeding Cool released a picture of the art for the variant cover (Cover B) of issue one from that series. It features Tsu’tey in front of a Pandoran willow tree in all of its bioluminescent glory.
All of the art we’ve seen to this point has been top notch. I am really excited about the level of detail that has gone into what they’ve shown so far, and so excited after all these years we are getting a new stream of Avatar content. Dark Horse announced the cover was the work of Shea Standefer, who can be found on Twitter and Instagram. Let her and Dark Horse know if you want to see more of her work in the future. She did an amazing job and I hope we see more from her in the Avatar comics.

On to a bit of Avatar sequel news. It was revealed today by Jon Landau on Facebook that Avatar actor Cliff Curtis wrapped his part on the sequels over a month ago. If you remember Cliff Curtis is going to be playing Tonowari who is leader of the Metkayina clan, that has been described as “reef people.” It’s awesome knowing progress has and is being made on the sequels.
