Newest Avatar sequel updates

Jon Landau keeps posting fantastic updates and pictures from the Avatar sequels on his Facebook, if you aren’t following him directly, I highly suggest it.

https://www.facebook.com/JonLandauLA/

He most recently showed us a picture of the Sully family. If you aren’t aware in the sequels we are going to meet Jake and Neytiri’s family. Which consists of-

Jamie Flatters: Neteyam (neh-tay’-ahm), Jake and Neytiri’s first born son.
Britain Dalton: Lo’ak (loh’ ahk), Jake and Neytiri’s second born son.
Trinity Bliss: Tuktirey: (took-tee’-ray), goes mostly by “Tuk” (rhymes with “nuke”). She is youngest of the Sully family.

Jon’s post seems to indicate this is the Sully family. But what we’ve been told in the past was that Jack Champion (4th from left) is playing Javier “Spider” Socorro, a human teenager born at Hell’s Gate but prefers his time in the Pandoran rainforest more than the asphalt of Hell’s Gate. So I am now curious if Jack replaced Trinity Bliss in the Sully family or is this just a bit misleading? It’s quite possible Jack just happened to be with the group when the picture was taken and no character changes have been made.

The next update we received from Jon was about three members of the Metkayina Clan. The known members of the Metkayina Clan so far are-

Cliff Curtis: Tonowari, leader of the Metkayina Clan.
Bailey Bass: Tsireya (see-ray’-ah), aka “Reya.” She is a graceful and strong free-diver – the young Neytiri of the ocean.
Filip Geljo: Aonung (aw-nung’), a young male hunter/free-diver. Son of Tonowari.
Duane Evans Jr.: Rotxo (row’-txoh), a young male hunter/free-diver.

Up next is a photo Jon describes as JC and Sigourney discussing a recent dive. I am very curious what role Sigourney is going to play in the sequels. Is Grace alive in Eywa, is she a whole new character, will she just be around for some flashbacks? No matter what it is, it would seem she could be playing a large role going forward in the sequels.

Jon’s next post thanks the previously mentioned Jack Champion on completing his live action shots. This makes me lean towards the fact they didn’t change his role as Spider, a human, and he just so happened to be with the Sully family for the picture above. Or possibly he becomes an adopted part of the Sully family at some point. It seems we will have to wait to find out. Either way it’s really remarkable the transformation he made while working on the sequels.

Now this next post really excites me. I love seeing the sets and this is right up my alley. How awesome is this place? Described as the “High Camp Bio Lab,” I can’t wait to learn more about what High Camp is and who all is going to be working in this lab. I spot what looks like an Avatar tank, a couple of link beds, on the far right of the photo with JC you can read some of the words on the pictures. One photo says Hell’s Gate Bio Lab, one says Link Shack, and shows a photo of what appears to be Grace in human form. Lots of really interesting things going on here.

The next post was of a new vehicle we will be seeing. I’ve heard it called the Amp suit of the seas. In the first movie we had Sec-Ops, and this appears to have Cet-Ops on it. Very curious how this will be used. This particular version doesn’t appears to have any weapons, so possibly a mining vessel? Either way it will be cool to see more of it. Even cooler when the Na’vi light a few on fire.

This next post made me happy. It’s great seeing the cast and crew getting to see some of their hard word translated into a near final version. I know they are working lots of long and hard days and have been for months and even years. We still have quite awhile before we get to see all their work so I am sure it’s a huge boost getting to see a small part of it themselves. To everyone contributing to the movie, AvatarSequels.com says thank you!

Have you ever wanted an Avatar Lego set? Well Bulldoozer’s LEGO Ideas is trying to make that a reality. He designed an Avatar LEGO set based on the world of Pandora. You can vote for this awesome set here- https://ideas.lego.com/projects/0b235cc9-d4ce-4cbc-b464-2c6961a9dc60

To vote you do need to create an account. Just click “SUPPORT” in the upper right hand corner of the page and you’ll be prompted for you age, then you can create a new account or login from your Facebook, Google, or Apple account. If you want to see this come to life please take the time to vote to make Bulldoozer’s set a reality. As of this posting I was number 5532 to vote for the set, so he is over half way to the needed amount.

Please also check out and support this project from Ogel_. Avatar: Toruk-The Last Shadow. Here is what Oleg has to say about his project-

The great leonopteryx, known as Toruk in Na’vi’s language. His name can be translated as Last Shadow because the last thing you see when it attacks is his shadow above you. Toruk is the apex predator of Pandora, it is feared but respected by the different Na’vi tribes.
I’m a huge fan of Avatar and it’s been a while that I wanted to build iconic creatures and vehicles from this movie. So, I started to create this project a few months ago and I have modified it a lot of times to be more realistic and more robust. I wanted to create an articulated model so it is more playable and it can take a lot of positions like a flying one, a walked one where the “feathers” fold or an intimidating one and lots more!
Now if you want your own Toruk to lead and win every battle you do against the invaders, support my project.
I hope that you like it.
Ogel

I would love to see both of these projects reach 10,000 votes. Toruk would look amazing with the Pandora set. As more updates come in about either set I will share them with you all.

Send a message to our soon to be mother Avatar stuntwoman Alicia Vela-Bailey

Send a message to our soon to be mother Avatar stuntwoman Alicia Vela-Bailey

Hey guys, in case you missed it, last month Alicia Vela-Bailey announced she is 5 months pregnant, it will be her and her husband Matts first child. As soon as I heard the news I knew I wanted to do something community related to show her support during her pregnancy. It’s a bit hard to be a working stunt woman with a baby brewing, plus with Covid-19 affecting work for so many in the movie business, I thought it would be nice to help her and her husband out. She has spent years working on Avatar and the sequels, and shes a lovely person.

If you aren’t familiar with Alicia’s role in Avatar, here is just some of what she’s known for. She was the stunt double for Zoe Saldana/Neytiri. She played the young Na’vi spotted throughout the movie who only recently was named in the comics, Saeyla. She played another formally unnamed character who is a fan favorite, the ikran leader with the red war paint, Ikeyni. In the extended version she was the woman getting slapped at the bar on earth, who Jake Sully got thrown out trying to protect.

Originally we were going to take donations for her and Matt to help with any expenses they may have. After talking to Alicia she said they had been fortunate to have work recently and would take our donations and donate it to a charity of our choosing. So in light of that I’ll make a donation to them on behalf of the fandom, if you want to suggest a charity let me know. I’m going to get a card made with any messages you’d like to share with them.

If you have any well wishes please write to the email below and I’ll pass them along, Irayo.

I just came across this recently, as a fan of Joe I found it really interesting to hear what he had to say about the movie and how it impacted viewers. Rob Lowe also shares a very interesting story involving Jim Cameron. Language not appropriate for all ages, hope you enjoy!
